Independent Research by HVEC Lab

We conduct independent research on topics relevant to hydraulic engineering and water safety. Currently, we are investigating the following themes:

Flow in Hydraulic Structures

In hydraulic structures, the flow profile changes significantly over short distances, which has important implications for fluid dynamics. Additionally, the interaction between flow and barriers is a critical factor. Many existing models either fail to accurately describe these phenomena or require extremely long computation times. We develop fast and efficient tools for flow analysis in hydraulic structures, providing practical answers to design challenges.

Adaptive Design & Sea Level Rise

Sea levels are demonstrably rising, requiring a well-integrated approach in the design of coastal structures. To achieve this, robust and credible projections of future sea levels are essential. We conduct research on regional sea level variations, with a strong focus on measurement-based insights. Additionally, we explore adaptive design concepts for hydraulic structures to ensure long-term resilience.
